I’m not only a practitioner of Tarot, but a professional freelance writer of Tarot, astrology and mythology related features and articles, and a published writer of assorted short fiction, flash fiction and verse.

I’ve always been a bookworm. Books are flying carpets. I do a lot of reading, and I do a lot of writing, and this is work you can do, this is a form of independent travel even if we can’t walk, as I haven’t been able to do for a few years now.

Fiction. Non-fiction. Books. A Tarot deck is also a book; a 78 page story book of human history and the human condition. Books and Art History drew me to the storybook medium that is a Tarot card deck, but what drove me to learn o read the Tarot was a question to do with a challenging health problem, a form of autoimmune arthritis, for which I had had varying diagnoses, but no meaningful explanations or sufficiently effective treatment from health professionals. A dream gave me a back-story and a diagnosis which later checked out by lab report, and I began studying the Tarot to find out more about the way the mind works, the unconscious and the subconscious, waking and sleeping.

Psychic divination, Reading and writing. Story-finding, story-telling and story- processing, it all comes from the same place within us all.

Besides my paid writing work, I have had non-fiction, short fiction and verse published digitally and in print, in anthologies and magazines, including, but not exhaustively, Ask Astrology, Attune Magazine, Crack The Spine Magazine, Litro Magazine, The Literary Review, and others.

I have written a novel and will start seeking publication in due course.

A young policeman is a psychic medium, haunted by the aftermath of a childhood tragedy that shattered his family. But Life is for living, and he is doing OK – that is, until a drowning accident resurrects a ghost. What rescue for his brother? What penny for the Ferryman? Where to find it? How to pay? The arm of the law is long, but ancient legends don’t lie. It’s going to take the farthest reach of all.

I have another novel in progress, and as per usual with this novel writing activity, there are files containing failed or parked experiments.

Birds don’t just sing for fun. Writing, fiction especially, is driven by some need or impetus, and for me, it is a solitary activity, not clubbable, not at least until you get to the editing and beta-reading stage, when feedback from any reader on your wave-length is worth its weight in gold. However I am actively involved in one writing hangout, the very friendly, easy-going…and increasingly international writing community at Litopia. I scout for special guests for a weekly video podcast show hosted by London literary agent Peter Cox, Pop-Up Submissions, and make regular appearances as a supporting panellist.

I have had poems published in a number of book anthologies and regional magazines and online publications. Below is my first published poem, Compute Awe, published in the Literary Review.

Designed a World in RAM and ROM

The Programme’s called Till Kingdom Come

No viruses have crashed it yet

Designed by TheDevil@Helldotnet

Old Nick the Hacker means to win

So far he’s failed; we’re still plugged in

And hear the God-computer hum

The universal sound of ‘Om’

Creation real and unpretending

In countless files with files still pending

From here to nebulas most far

From single cell to giant star

For all a life from birth to death

And in-between its every breath

Our highest inspiration

And spirit’s destination

The ROM His Universal Laws

The RAM means; choices, chances, flaws

And Life that cannot be destroyed

Its bits and bytes just re-deployed

In awe we stand, in hope we pray

The Programme runs till Judgment Day.
